Tucked away in bustling Fremantle, this 1901 Federation Bungalow is equal parts charming hideaway and thoughtful design haven. Dreamed up by Clare, a seasoned traveller and stylist, the home is filled with characterful details, vintage treasures and textures that invite you to settle in and stay awhile.

Each room is layered with textures and detail: soft rugs collected from around the world, curated books, personal touches, and of course, cloud-soft C+G linen in rich, earthy tones.
In fact, you’ll find layers of Carlotta + Gee linen adding softness and texture to each beautifully styled room — Blush and Chocolate in one, Olive and Plaid in another — elevating the already thoughtful interiors.

We recently caught up with Clare to hear more about how Traveller’s Return came to life, the joy of curating a home-away-from-home, and why Fremantle will always have her heart.
Tell us how the beautiful Travellers Return and came about?
I have been on the lookout for the perfect cottage that had soul and its own story, for all of my interior pieces that I have collected along my travels to live. Then this 1905 Federation bungalow terrace came into my life. Travellers Return was born from a love of design, storytelling, and the magic of bringing people together in a place that feels both curated and completely relaxed at the same time.

Such a great location in Fremantle, WA - what can guests look forward to?
Fremantle has always held a soft space in my heart - it’s where I grew up and where I find the most character, creativity, and charm in all of Perth. Travellers Return is tucked away in a peaceful pocket right in the heart of Freo, close enough to walk to the vibrant cafés, restaurants, and bars of South Fremantle and the historic West End, yet just far enough to escape the buzz when you’re ready to unwind. It’s where you can retreat - you can spend your days exploring the coast or browsing local markets, and your evenings wrapped in soft linen, surrounded by warmth and calm — perfect whether you're with friends or family.
We know your guests can sleep in C+G - what colours do you have?
I absolutely adore C+G — it’s all about thoughtful luxury, the kind that feels indulgent yet deeply comforting. I wanted to give guests the best of both worlds: the elegant ease of a boutique hotel with the soulful, personal touches of a home.

Each bedroom is dressed in dreamy, layered textures and colours:
Bedroom One: Blush, Sage, and Chocolate. Bedroom Two: Olive, Natural Plaid, and Green Fig. Bedroom Three: Vintage Pink and Olive Stripes. Dining room: the Paprika tablecloth brings a warm, earthy glow that ties the whole space together, complemented by soft Pencil Stripes — simple details that create a truly welcoming experience.
At C+G we believe it is so important to relax, how can your guests relax?
When styling Travellers Return, I made it a priority to create pockets of peace throughout the home. Every room has its own invitation to slow down - whether you’re curling up under the cloud-soft C+G linens in one of the three bedrooms, enjoying a quiet loose leaf cuppa as sunlight pours through the French doors at the breakfast table, or sinking into a deep bath with Aesop body products and a favourite book. The living room offers gentle light and plenty of plush seating to gather, rest, or simply be. And outside, there’s a secluded garden oasis that feels worlds away from the city - your own private corner of calm.
From handpicked teas and good reads to the softest textures and soothing Diptyque Rose scents, everything here is designed to help you fully exhale, restore, and feel completely at home.
What is next for Travellers Return?
I want to keep creating a warm and welcoming retreat for my new and returning guests in the way of personal touches to add to the unique space, where they want to stay just a little longer and return. Their home away from home.
